Intraining was proud sponsor of the Defence Medical Service Training Centre (DMSTC) team in the 2009 Field Gun event for the third year!
Our team was mainly comprised of Apprenticeship learners who are on programme with the Joint Medical Command (JMC) team, an area of Intraining NTP that delivers apprenticeship frameworks to the medics in the armed forces at Keogh Barracks in Aldershot.
Held in Collingwood, Portsmouth on Saturday 6th June, the event was watched by 6000 people and and made for a very exciting day and an extremely noisy race!
The Field Gun competition is a multi services competition tracing back to a challenge of 1907, which was to celebrate the epic 119 days siege of Ladysmith in the Boer War in 1900. Nowadays 18 teams of men and women each pull a half ton gun and 'limber', holding shells, across a total run of 150 yards, changing wheels and firing shells in the process.
Our team got their highest position ever - gaining 2nd place in the 3rd plate final! A real victory for our Apprenticeship programme!
